The inspector had kicked an innocent person, the court pronounced the punishment, said- if I let you go then…
Policemen often beat up people. While hearing a similar case, the Gujarat High Court has taken a tough stand. The High Court has rejected the inspector's apology and imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on him. It said that if one policeman who commits such a crime is forgiven, then 10 other policemen will commit the same crime and then submit an apology letter in court. The incident took place outside Surat District Court. According to information, a lawyer was sitting with his friends in his car outside Surat Court.
During this time the inspector came and kicked the lawyer. In this case, the lawyer lodged a complaint against the inspector at the police station, but the case was not registered. After this, the lawyer filed a petition in the district court, from where an order was passed against the inspector. Against this order, the inspector also went to the High Court with an apology. The High Court did not consider such behavior of police personnel appropriate. It said that such behavior with an innocent person is not right.
Apology petition rejected
While considering the inspector's apology, the court said that if one person is forgiven, other policemen will also commit similar crimes and then expect forgiveness. Saying this, the High Court imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh. It said that out of the fine amount, Rs 2 lakh will be deposited in the High Court library and Rs 1 lakh in the Surat District Court library. With this, the court has rejected the inspector's apology application.
