As per the extant guidelines, food is not allowed on flights of less than two hours duration. This restriction was implemented on April 15 this year. Domestic airlines started on May 25 last year after the Corona lockdown, when the ministry had permitted to serve food in flight with certain conditions.

A source said, "Given the decline in the number of daily corona cases, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is reviewing the in-flight meal services during domestic flights and has sought suggestions from the Health Ministry to amend the existing guidelines." The source further said, 'Now the Ministry of Health has informed that serving food can be started in flights of less than two hours' duration.
