The incident is in the Chhalesar Chowki area. A wedding procession from Delhi had come to a village here on Saturday. All the wedding rituals were performed with great pomp and show by both parties. The bride and groom garlanded each other. The marriage was completed with sindoor and seven rounds. The baraatis also had food. Then the farewell was to take place on Sunday morning. However, in the morning the bride made a comment about giving less gifts, which angered the groom. Soon a huge uproar started between the two parties.

The matter reached to a scuffle. Seeing both the parties fighting, the bride refused to go with the baraat. Hearing that the bride was not coming to her in-laws' house, the groom's side reached Chhalesar police station at 11 am. The police reached the village and called the people of the bride's side to the police station. Talks between the two parties continued till eight in the evening but no solution could be found. Both the parties talked about the exchange of goods and then later the baraat returned without the bride.

She also gave the same tea to the groom's family. But no one knew what was mixed in the tea. Actually, an intoxicant was mixed in it. As soon as the groom drank the tea, he became unconscious. The bride then called her friends in the room. She fled from there with all the jewelry and 25 thousand rupees in cash from the room. This was revealed when the groom and his family regained consciousness the next day. The case is from village Basauli of Gonda police station area. The police have started investigation after taking the complaint.
