Suresh Raina's uncle was murdered by the Babaria gang, court sentenced 12 culprits to life imprisonment

In the case of the murder of Indian cricketer Suresh Raina's uncle, the Pathankot District Court of Punjab has sentenced the culprits to life imprisonment. A fine of Rs 2 lakh each has also been imposed on them. All the culprits are associated with the Babaria gang. In the year 2020, they carried out the robbery by entering the house of Suresh Raina's uncle.

The court has convicted 12 accused. All have been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 2 lakh each. When this incident took place, Suresh Raina was playing IPL in Dubai. As soon as he got the news of the incident, he left IPL midway and returned to India from Dubai. Suresh Raina's uncle Ashok Kumar lived with his family in Thariyal village of Pathankot. On the night of 19 August 2020, he was sleeping on the roof. Then members of the Babaria gang raided his house with the intention of loot.

The gang had entered the house and looted it. Women were also a part of the gang. They attacked the family as soon as they entered the house. Suresh Raina's uncle Ashok Kumar and aunt Asha Devi were seriously injured in the attack with sharp weapons. Ashok Kumar was declared dead by the doctors while the aunt went into a coma. Three members of the family were also injured. After the incident, the robbers fled after looting cash and jewelry from the house. A case of this incident was registered in Shapurkundi police station.

The police arrested 12 accused involved in this incident and sent them to jail. These include several women as well. The Pathankot District Court, while giving its verdict in this case, has convicted all the accused and has imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh each along with life imprisonment. The lawyer of this case, Harish Pathania, said that the incident was in 2020. Two people died in the robbery. One of them was Suresh Raina's uncle.
