The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.05 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was around 18 degrees. There was some relief from the rains in the past, but the effect was soon over. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain and further drop in temperature due to western disturbances from January 4.

In Himachal Pradesh, rain and snowfall have increased the cold season. The mercury in Tabo dropped to -17 degrees Celsius. Despite the light sunshine in tourist destinations like Shimla and Manali, the cold has forced people to shiver. Traffic on 138 roads is stalled due to snowfall. Heavy snowfall has been warned due to new western disturbances from January 2.

Uttarakhand is likely to break snowfall records this year due to the effect of 'La Nina'. Scientists have predicted severe cold and widespread snowfall in January. Tourists in areas like Nainital and Mussoorie are enjoying snowfall, but the cold wave has made life difficult. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of cold wave and fog in the hills and plains.

Jammu and Kashmir: Cold wave conditions continue in Jammu and Kashmir, with

the Kashmir Valley continuing to experience cold weather. Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 8.8 degrees Celsius, which was the coldest place in the state. There is a possibility of heavy snowfall between January 4 and 6. This situation is attractive for tourists but is causing problems for local residents.

In Bihar, cold westerly winds coming from the hilly areas have increased the outbreak of cold. The temperature dropped in other parts including Patna. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of fog and cold for the next three days. Cold winds are troubling people from morning to evening.

Apart from these, from Jaipur in Rajasthan to Lucknow in UP and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, severe cold has also been seen. With the new year, this period of cold is becoming a challenge for people. The Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop in temperature in the coming days, which may take time to get relief.
