Delhi Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana: Before the assembly elections to be held this year, the people of Delhi may suffer a major setback. In fact, the Delhi government had announced to give one thousand rupees per month to eligible women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana to empower women. But due to lack of funds, there may be a break on this.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had recently said that the system of registration for this scheme will also be started soon. After this, one thousand rupees will be sent to the bank account of the women. But the Finance Department has pointed to a budget shortfall. Finance Department officials have given this information on Friday.
Since the Delhi Assembly elections are near, there is a possibility that the Delhi government's plan may be braked. The Delhi government had announced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana in the budget of 2024-25. Under this scheme, it was announced to give one thousand rupees per month to women. The Delhi government had also allocated Rs 2,000 crore in the budget for this scheme.
During his padayatra in Delhi's Burari, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said about the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana that the scheme will be launched soon and the monthly honorarium will be deposited in the bank accounts of women. He had said that the system of registration will be started soon to give the benefit of this scheme.
Budget may go into deficit
At the same time, officials of the Finance Department have pointed out that the benefit of this scheme for women can cause the Delhi government's budget 2025-26 to go into deficit. The benefit of the Delhi Government's Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana will be available to women between 18 years and 60 years of age. For this, it is mandatory for the woman to be a voter of Delhi. Under this scheme, the woman should not have a government job. Also, the annual income should not be more than Rs 2.50 lakh.
