Riot victims from the Hindu community are accusing Mulayam Singh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party of harassing Hindus by doing politics of appeasement. They are demanding reinvestigation of the 1978 riots and are hoping for justice. Riot victim Vishnu Sharan Rastogi said that the riots started on 29 March 1978. Hindus were killed in this riot and commercial establishments were set on fire and looted. The situation became such that Hindus had to migrate. He said that it was very painful that the then government did not do justice to them and the accused were acquitted. The compensation given by the government was also very low. He has appealed to the Yogi government to reinvestigate the 1978 riots.
