Rajasthan Crime: Indore court has given severe punishment to the accused in the case of forced conversion and circumcision of the son of businessman Mahesh Nahata living in Barmer, Rajasthan. The court has sentenced 3 people including the child's mother to 10 years each in the case.

Indore court has convicted three accused including the mother of Barmer businessman Mahesh Nahata in the case of forced conversion and circumcision of his 8-year-old son and sentenced them to 10 years each. This case is of 2018, when Mahesh Nahata's wife Prarthana Shivhare (27) moved to Indore with her lover Ilyas Ahmed (33) along with her three-year-old son. During this time, she changed her son's name and made her lover the father. She also got her son circumcised.

In 2018, Barmer grain merchant Mahesh Nahta's wife Prarthana Shivhare ran away with her lover Ilyas Ahmed along with their three-year-old son. Mahesh filed a missing person report, but there was no trace of his wife and son. Later Ilyas was arrested, but after being released from jail, he called Prarthana back to him. In 2023, it was revealed that Prarthana was living with Ilyas in Indore. During this time, Ilyas declared himself as the child's father with fake documents and changed his name and birth certificate. The child was forcibly circumcised and admitted to a madrasa.

On the complaint of businessman Mahesh Nahata, the main accused Ilyas Ahmed was arrested on 15 July 2023. After this, on 20 July 2023, the court handed over the custody of the child to his real father Mahesh Nahata. On Tuesday, the Indore court took a tough stand in this case and convicted Prarthana Shivhare, Ilyas Ahmed and Mohammad Zafar Ali and sentenced all three to 10 years each. The court gave this verdict considering it a serious case of forced conversion and use of fake documents.
