"This is to inform all concerned that due to change in the category of superfast trains to express trains and from express trains to superfast trains, it has been decided by the Railways to change the number of the following trains," the Northern Railway said on social media platform X.

Railways have also stated that the effective date of the changed number of trains is different. For example, the number of Gorakhpur-Lucknow Intercity Express (12531) will be changed from 15031. And its effective date is January 4. At the same time, the number of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Mail Express (15101) will be changed from 22583. And its effective date is 7 January.

Numbers of many MEMU and DMU trains also changed
