It was said in the news that passengers returning from Mahakumbh can travel 200 to 250 km distance in the general coach of the train for free. It was also said in the report that such passengers will have to get tickets from TT in the middle of the journey. But now a clarification has been issued by the Ministry of Railways on this.

The ministry said that the reports that people can travel by train for free during the Maha Kumbh Mela are completely wrong. The Ministry says that these reports are not true at all and people are being misled.
It has been clarified by the Railway Ministry that traveling without ticket is against the rules of the railway and there is a provision for punishment for it.
"There is no rule for free travel during the Maha Kumbh Mela or any other occasion. Railways have assured the passengers that all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure smooth journey during the fair. This includes setting up special arrangements in the area, setting up additional ticket counters and other necessary facilities. This time, special preparations are being made by the government for the Mahakumbh starting in Prayagraj.
