PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again proved himself in 2024.
PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again proved himself in 2024. Although there was some disappointment in the Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi proved his skills by making a tremendous comeback in the assembly elections soon after.
The year 2024 has once again witnessed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's well-being and capability. This year, the Bharatiya Janata Party boosted the morale of the workers with victories in three states. However, the party suffered a setback in the Lok Sabha elections and made a spectacular comeback with victories in two big states at the end of the year.
The 'pran pratishtha' event of the Ram temple in Ayodhya in February became a major symbol of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and his long-standing politics of Hindu pride. After the consecration, speculations were being made that the Bharatiya Janata Party would get a spectacular victory in the elections. However, the party was reduced from 302 to 240. The BJP suffered the biggest loss in Uttar Pradesh. However, the NDA won a majority with the support of the TDP and JDU and once captured the power of the country. The Congress had won 99 seats in the 2014 Assembly elections.
Modi's rise amid challenges
Rahul Gandhi said that the opposition was only 20-30 seats away from toppling the government, but Modi described the Congress and the Opposition Alliance (INDIA) as weak compared to him and cited the BJP's victory in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in 2023 as proof of his popularity. The real turning point of 2024 came with the BJP's victory in Haryana and Maharashtra. The victories in these states gave new energy to the party.
'Constitution is in danger' but 'one is safe'
In the midst of Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the slogan 'Ek hain to safe hain'. PM Modi's slogan overshadowed the Congress' campaign of 'the Constitution is in danger' and reinvigorated the Hindu vote bank with Dalit voters. In 2024, when the opposition was cornering Modi on the issues of caste census and the Adani controversy, he easily neutralised these attacks as usual. The BJP's victory in Dalit-dominated areas in Maharashtra was an example of this.
By the end of the year, the BJP had strategically raised the issue of George Soros and tried to link the opposition, especially the Gandhi family, with foreign influence. This approach reiterated Modi's resolve not to let opposition narratives dominate him. Modi's 105-minute long address in Parliament while replying to the debate on the Constitution showed how the PM has returned to his substance and his real self.
Delhi and Bihar biggest challenge?
In 2025, the BJP will have to face many new challenges. Amit Shah's statement on Dr. Ambedkar has given the opposition an opportunity to attack the Modi government. In the Delhi elections, the BJP will once again have to face Arvind Kejriwal directly. In those elections, the BJP will have to recover from the series of defeats in Delhi. Apart from this, Bihar also remains a big challenge for the BJP. It remains to be seen whether the alliance with Nitish Kumar will continue in Bihar or something new will be seen.
There will be a struggle on these three bills
With 2025 at the cross, the BJP is ready to face more challenges in its electoral journey ahead than back on achievements. Several contentious issues such as 'One Nation One Election', Uniform Civil Code and the contentious Waqf Bill are awaiting political consensus. UCC has always been a central issue for the Bharatiya Janata Party but it will not be easy for the BJP to implement it. However, Uttarakhand passed the law for the Uniform Civil Code and this state has become the first state in the country to implement UCC. The Uniform Civil Code is an issue that has been hotly debated and has divergent views on it.
At the same time, the controversy continues on the Waqf Bill Board. A JPC has been formed by taking the Waqf Bill, which is discussing with all the parties regarding this bill. The third and the biggest issue facing the BJP is 'one nation, one election'. This bill has been introduced in Parliament, as well as it has been accepted for discussion after voting in the Lok Sabha.
Will Modi's charisma continue?
PM Modi's political career has always been an example of overcoming challenges. After the 2002 Gujarat riots, his political journey was considered to be over, but he changed his image through the 'Gujarat Model' and became the Prime Minister of the country in 2014. After becoming PM for the first time, Modi has proved himself every time. Political experts say that this magic of PM Modi on the public will still remain. The end of 2024 makes it clear that Modi's political journey is still long and his ability to rise to challenges has strengthened his grip on Indian politics.
