Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has announced a special campaign to ensure that every eligible farmer receives the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan). As part of this initiative, one crore new farmers were added during the Vikasit Bharat Abhiyan, and the government aims to include all remaining eligible beneficiaries.

Key Highlights of the Announcement

1. Fourth Special Campaign from April 15

  • Three previous special campaigns have been conducted successfully.
  • A fourth campaign will start on April 15, ensuring that no eligible farmer is left out.

2. PM Kisan Portal & Mobile App Development

  • Farmers can check their registration status and update details on the PM Kisan portal and mobile app.

3. States Urged to Update Farmer Data

  • State governments have been requested to upload applications via Common Service Centres (CSC) for quick verification.
  • 14,000 pending names in Tamil Nadu need to be updated for approval.

4. Financial Assistance to Farmers

  • Small farmers receive ₹6,000 per year in three installments of ₹2,000 each.
  • On the scheme’s 6th anniversary, ₹22,000 crore was transferred to 9.80 crore farmers via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

5. Central Government's Commitment to Farmers

  • ₹7,600 crore has been recently released under MNREGA to support rural livelihoods.
  • Minister Chauhan assured full support to farmers, including resolving Tamil Nadu-specific issues.
