Jammu Kashmir News: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided that the task force of National Security Guard NSG commandos in Jammu city will be permanently present in Jammu. This task force will take immediate action to deal with any major terrorist attack. In addition, security plans have been prepared for high-rise buildings, security installations and other sensitive public places. A special squad of the NSG has now been permanently deployed in Jammu city, the officials said. This squad will be ready to deal with the terrorists in a few minutes in any emergency. The Home Ministry's move comes in the wake of recent terror attacks on security forces in Jammu region and possible threat to the city.
The number of NSG commandos has
not been disclosed for security reasons, but officials have termed it "adequate". Earlier, in the event of terror attacks, NSG commandos had to be called from New Delhi or Chandigarh, which was a time-consuming process. Now, the local presence of NSG commandos will ensure quick action.
Security Plan and Roles The
deployment of NSG commandos is part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police's (JKP) counter-terror plan. This plan is mainly designed to protect high-rise buildings, shopping malls, cinema halls and other sensitive places from terrorist attacks.
Officials said it has become extremely difficult for the militants to enter the city now as a multi-layer security ring has been prepared. However, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the JKP will be at the forefront to deal with any emergency. If the encounter is prolonged, the NSG will be supported.
Security audits and preparation
for immediate action The police and SOG teams have repeatedly conducted security audits. This includes shopping malls, cinema halls, government offices and other sensitive places. A detailed action plan has been prepared to immediately thwart any terrorist attack at these places.
Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts
have witnessed a series of terror attacks this year targeting security forces. Many soldiers were martyred in these attacks, while many terrorists were also killed. Last month, three Pakistani terrorists were killed by the army in Kaur sector of Akhnoor. These terrorists were plotting a major attack in Jammu, but the vigilant army foiled their plan.
The permanent presence of NSG commandos in Jammu will be of great help on the security front against terrorism.
