Muslim members of the Assam Assembly will no longer get a 2-hour break for Friday prayers. Assembly Speaker Vishwajit Daimary took this decision on Friday. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about the Speaker's decision. This decision of the Speaker will come into effect from the next session of the Assembly. Politics has also intensified regarding the decision of the Assam government. BJP's ally JDU has opposed the decision of the Assam government.

Former Bihar minister and JDU chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said that the Assam government's decision is against the standards of the Constitution. All religions have the right to keep their traditions and customs alive. Assam CM says that this will increase the ability to work. Then I would like to ask him to stop the 'sacrifice practice' in Kamakhya temple. No one has the right to attack religious practices.

JDU is part of NDA, yet its stance is different

At present, JDU is a part of NDA. JDU has an important role in the central government. On the other hand, Nitish Kumar is running the government in Bihar along with BJP. Even after this, JDU's stand on Friday prayers is completely different. It is a different matter that JDU has nothing to do with the Assam government, nor does JDU have any presence in Assam.

Apart from JDU, Bihar's opposition party RJD has also opposed the decision of the Assam government. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said that the Chief Minister of Assam deliberately keeps doing things that harass Muslims in an attempt to gain cheap popularity and become the Chinese version of CM Yogi.

Tejashwi said- BJP has made Muslims a soft target

Tejashwi further said, BJP people have made Muslim brothers a soft target to spread hatred and polarize the society. People of all religions, except RSS, have contributed to the independence of the country. Our Muslim brothers have made sacrifices to get the country independence and as long as we are here, no one can harm them.

Meanwhile, AIUDF MLA Mujibur Rahman in Guwahati said that every Friday we used to get one or two hours for namaz. This system has been going on since 1936. Almost 90 years have passed. Many governments and CMs came, but they did not have any problems. We do not know what problem the current CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has. He is trying to eliminate Muslims.

The time for namaz for Muslims has ended in Rajya Sabha

Before the decision of the Assam government, the time for namaz was abolished in the Rajya Sabha as well. Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar had given this arrangement. Till now, the lunch break in Rajya Sabha was from 1 pm to 2:30 pm every Friday. Whereas, the lunch break in Lok Sabha is from 1 pm to 2 pm. An additional half an hour was given for namaz in Rajya Sabha. This was abolished by the current Chairman by changing the rules.

The whole matter is of 8 December 2023. Then Zero Hour was going on in the Rajya Sabha. MPs were asking for answers to their questions. Then DMK MP Tiruchi Siva intervened. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar was presiding. The Chairman gave Tiruchi Siva a chance to speak. He asked a question about the time limit of Rajya Sabha's work on Friday.

DMK MP raised the question

The DMK MP said that usually on Fridays, the proceedings of the House begin at 2.30 pm after the lunch break. It is another matter that as per today's revised schedule, it is from 2 pm. When was the decision taken in this regard? The members of the House do not know why this change was made.
