The Provisions Of New Laws: New laws are going to be implemented in the country from Monday, July 1. New laws were made on December 25, 2023. After the new laws come into force, the property of fugitive criminals can be confiscated even abroad. These laws will tighten the noose on criminals even more. The government has also made special arrangements to deal with terrorism and organized crime in these laws.

Under these laws, investigation in cases of sexual harassment will have to be completed within seven days. With the hope of change, a uniform justice system is being implemented across the country. Strict provisions to crack down on fugitive criminals in the new law

In the new laws that are going to be implemented in the country from July 1, arrangements have been made to crack down on fugitive criminals. Now, even in the absence of declared criminals, they can be prosecuted and the victim will not have to wait for justice. Earlier, it was often seen that the judicial process was obstructed due to the proclaimed criminals not being caught, but the Indian Judicial Code has found a solution to this problem and strict provisions have been made in the new law to crack down on fugitive criminals.

Trial can also be conducted in court in the absence of the absconding criminal

Now the process of justice will not stop due to the absconding criminal not being caught, rather the trial can also be conducted in the court in the absence of the absconding criminal. Till now the trial of any criminal or accused used to start only when he was present in the court, but now the trial can be conducted even without the criminal, that is, the proceedings in the court will not stop. The trial will start after the charges are framed against the absconding accused. Case will be registered against the fugitive criminals within 90 days.

Now there is provision to declare a fugitive in 120 crimes as against 19

Earlier, under the CRPC, there was a provision to declare a person a fugitive only in 19 crimes, but now there is a provision to declare a person a fugitive in 120 crimes. A person who absconds in crimes punishable with 10 years or more life imprisonment or death will be declared a proclaimed offender. A new provision has been made for identification, attachment and confiscation of the property of proclaimed offenders located abroad outside India. 

Use of technology in criminal justice system, audio-video in court

With the implementation of new laws, the use of technology in the criminal justice system in the country will increase significantly. After this, the entire process of police action will be videographed. There will be a provision to present audio-video evidence in the court. Under these laws, it will be ensured that justice is provided to the victim within three years. FIR will have to be recorded within three days of filing the complaint. Investigation of sexual harassment cases will have to be completed within seven days. 

7 years imprisonment for mob lynching, life imprisonment or death sentence for gang rape of a minor

The trial of criminal cases will have to be completed in 45 days. Under the new laws, there is a provision of 20 years of jail or life sentence in case of gang rape. Those found guilty of gang rape of a minor will be given life imprisonment or death sentence. Having sex by lying will also be considered a crime. The statement of the victim will be recorded in the presence of a female officer. Forensic investigation will be done in cases of punishment of seven years or more. In cases of mob lynching, there will be a punishment of seven years.
