Navjot Singh Sidhu has made people around him uncomfortable on the pitch from cricket to politics. He also revolted against the one who made him the guru of politics. Whether to leave the tour as a cricketer or change party by resigning from the Rajya Sabha. Sidhu has been making headlines with his rebellious voices

The rebellion against the captain in cricket

Navjot Singh Sidhu entered politics in 2004. His career in the game did not stay away from controversies. Cricket lovers will remember that during the 1996 tour of England, Navjot Singh Sidhu had returned home in the middle of the tour after rebelling with the captain Mohammad Azharuddin. There were a lot of ruckuses and there was talk that having a restraint is the biggest quality of a player.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had also opened a front against Arun Jaitley, reached Parliament in 2004 by winning the Lok Sabha elections from Amritsar on a BJP ticket. At that time an old case was going on against him. Patiala resident Gurnam Singh was accused of beating him up during a parking dispute. Arun Jaitley, a senior BJP leader in the Supreme Court, defended Sidhu and Sidhu got bail.

Sidhu made Arun Jaitley his guru in his political innings. In 2014, when BJP made Arun Jaitley its candidate from here, Sidhu declared that he would not contest the elections. The ambitious Sidhu then took a rebellious tone. He did not reach Amritsar to campaign for his political guru Arun Jaitley.

Big critics of Akali Dal

Once upon a time, Sidhu, who read songs in the glory of Bikram Singh Majithia and Sukhbir Badal, started criticizing them fiercely. This behavior of his put the then BJP chief Kamal Sharma in a lot of trouble. Sidhu has targeted the Akali Dal on several occasions on issues like corruption, cable mafia, mining mafia. At the same time, BJP leaders also started wrapping them. Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu was then the Chief Parliamentary Secretary. Sidhu became a Rajya Sabha MP in April 2016 but he tendered his resignation three months later.

It was then that the discussion started emerging in the political circles that Navjot Sidhu would now join the Aam Aadmi Party. He will be the face of the Chief Minister in the state. In contrast, he joined Congress a few weeks before the 2017 assembly elections. Prior to that, he had formed the Awaaz-e-Punjab Forum, which also included the Bains brothers and Pargat Singh.

Was made a cabinet minister in 2017

Congress party came to power in Punjab in 2017 and Sidhu became a cabinet minister. After a few months, he expressed his displeasure over the election of the mayor of Amritsar and started a revolt against Capt. Sidhu then proposed an entertainment tax on cable networks and a corporation for sand mining, which was rejected.

In 2019, Captain changed the department, and in 2019

Captain Amarinder Singh changed Sidhu's ministry. In protest, Sidhu resigned without taking office. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had sent an invitation to Navjot Singh Sidhu to take the oath. Captain Amarinder Singh appealed to Sidhu not to attend the ceremony but Sidhu reached Pakistan via the Wagah border.

He also hugged Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa on the offer to open the Kartarpur Corridor there. Amarinder Singh's government was badly hit on this issue. While campaigning for the Congress in Telangana, Sidhu had said that even Captain Amarinder Singh has Captain Rahul Gandhi. Sidhu's statement drew a lot of criticism in the Punjab Congress.

Became state president but left in a few days

Sidhu did not appear much in the campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but at the behest of Priyanka Gandhi, he campaigned in Bathinda. After a long wait, when Sidhu increased his activism in the party, he was made the state president. During this, Captain Amarinder Singh strongly opposed Sidhu. After becoming the president, Sidhu again raised his voice against the captain and the ruckus increased so much that Amarinder Singh had to resign. After changing the CM and becoming the state president, it seemed that Sidhu would now work firmly towards the party but suddenly surprised everyone by resigning.
