Mohammad Azharuddin appeared before ED, accused of irregularities in HCA.
Congress leader and former president of Hyderabad Cricket Association Azharuddin reached the ED office. Mohammad Azharuddin was summoned by ED in the money laundering case related to the Hyderabad Cricket Association, after which he appeared before ED in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The federal agency will question him and record his statement under PMLA.
According to reports, former MP Azharuddin was first asked to appear before the agency at its office on Fateh Maidan Road here on October 3, but he asked for some time from the ED, and then he was called on Tuesday (October 8). Actually, Azharuddin is accused of irregularities in the Hyderabad Cricket Association. It was reported that Rs 20 crore had been misappropriated in the funds of the association.
Searches were conducted at 9 places.
ED conducted searches at 9 places in Telangana in November last year and during this time ED recovered some important documents and some digital devices, after which action was taken against Azharuddin for misappropriation of funds. He is accused of giving contracts to private companies at high rates and causing losses of crores of rupees to the association. ED has registered three FIRs in this case and further investigation is going on.

Azharuddin will work as the President of the Hyderabad Cricket Association till 2021. He turned from a cricketer to a politician. In 2009, he was an MP from Moradabad in UP on a Congress ticket.
