Maharashtra : Lime of 6.25 lakh to the elderly by pretending to be a SIM block in Thane district
A case of cheating of lakhs of rupees from an elderly person has come to light in the Thane district of Maharashtra. Actually, the thug blew 6.25 lakhs from the old man's account on the pretext of getting a mobile recharge of Rs 11 through a link by talking about the SIM card block.
An elderly man in the Thane district was unable to recharge his phone through the first link, after which he called an online thug, a police officer said on Sunday. This time he was given another link.
With the help of this link, the thugs 'accessed' the senior citizen's phone and transferred Rs 6.25 lakh from his account. Jaymala Vasave, Public Relations Officer of Thane City Police said that the incident happened on July 26 this year, but a complaint in this regard was lodged at Kalwa police station on Saturday. He said that the incident is being investigated. So far no arrest has been made in the case.
