The girlfriend asked for more money from him, and when he refused, the girlfriend along with her friends beat him up.

According to the police, Shweta, a resident of Jamshedpur, became friends with Mehul Shah, an officer of a multinational company in Mumbai, through social media. This friendship quickly turned into love and both of them started talking to each other. Meanwhile, they quarreled over something and they separated from each other. After this, the girl came to Ranchi and started living there.

Shweta informed her friends about this. They planned to trap Mehul in a honeytrap. The accused girl expressed her desire to meet Mehul by sending him her obscene video. She called Mehul from Mumbai to Ranchi. As soon as Mehul reached Ranchi, his alleged girlfriend Shweta and her friends first showed him around the city. They booked a room for Mehul in a reputed hotel in Ranchi. Shweta and Mehul stayed there. During this time, Shweta made an obscene video of Mehul.

Shweta started threatening Mehul to make the video viral. She also threatened to send it to his family. According to Mehul, Shweta and her associates extorted about 50 lakh rupees from him through hawala. Even after that, the girl and her friends started demanding more money from him. Due to this, a dispute broke out between Mehul and his alleged girlfriend in Ranchi.

Shweta's friends started beating Mehul. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and caught the accused who were beating him. When they were strictly interrogated, the whole matter came to light. The victim Mehul's wife complained to Ranchi's Airport Police Station, based on which the police arrested four people including the girl, and started investigating the case.
