Indian Oil Corporation has launched a new type of LPG cylinder for the customers. It is called a Composite Cylinder, which has many advantages as it is lightweight and does not rust.

What is this cylinder made of?

Composite Cylinder is made in three tiers, with a layer of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) inside the first. This inner layer is coated with fiberglass made of polymers. Its outer layer is also made of HDPE. That is, these cylinders have been made with complete safety.

LPG cylinders are heavier as compared to compact cylinders as they are made of steel. The compact cylinder has many other features that are available for half the weight of a regular steel cylinder.


The composite cylinder weighs 5 kg and 10 kg. This cylinder is transparent, so you can see the amount of gas remaining in the cylinder. This will help the consumers to plan their next refill considering the quantity of gas. The composite cylinder does not rust and most importantly it is not damaged, making it safe. This cylinder has been designed according to the modern kitchen.

Where are these cylinders available?

Composite cylinders are currently available in 28 cities of the country including Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Darjeeling, Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jamshedpur, Ludhiana, Mysore, Patna. , Raipur, Ranchi, Sangrur, Surat, Tiruchirappalli, Tiruvallur, Tumkur, Varanasi, and Visakhapatnam. Soon this cylinder will be supplied in other cities also.

How much will it cost to get a new cylinder?

To get a composite cylinder, a security deposit has to be deposited with the gas agency. You will have to deposit Rs 3,350 for 10 kg LPG composite cylinder and Rs 2,150 for 5 kg cylinder.

New cylinder instead of the old cylinder

Most importantly, you can replace your old steel cylinder with a new composite cylinder if you wish. If you are an Indane customer, go to your gas agency with your steel cylinder. Also, keep the subscription paper for gas connection with you. The amount you have spent on getting the connection of your old cylinder will be deducted from the cost of the composite cylinder.

Then you will get a composite LPG cylinder by paying the balance amount.

For example, if you have paid Rs 2000 for Indane earlier, you will have to pay Rs 3350 - 2000 = Rs 1350 more for the composite cylinder. This price is for a 10 kg composite cylinder. If you want to take a 5 kg cylinder, then you have to pay 2150 - 2000 = 150 rupees.
