Voting for Lok Sabha elections is to be held in Rajasthan on 19 and 26 April. After this, 266 candidates are contesting for 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan. Of these, there are 247 male and 19 female candidates. Monday was the last day for the withdrawal of names.
After this, 152 candidates are left in the contest in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in the second phase. These include 145 men and 7 women. A total of 114 candidates are in the fray in the 12 Lok Sabha constituencies that went to polls in the first phase. These include 102 men and 12 women. Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta has given this information.
He said that a maximum of 18 candidates are in the Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency. Whereas, a minimum of 4 candidates are in Karauli-Dholpur. Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta has fielded women candidates in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies. A maximum of 3 women are in the Bharatpur Lok Sabha constituency.
He said that there has been an increase in the number of candidates in the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 as compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Currently, 266 (247 men, 19 women) candidates are in the race for all the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan. In the last Lok Sabha elections, this number was 249 (226 men, 23 women). Thus this time the number of candidates has increased by 17.
It is noteworthy that this time Lok Sabha elections are to be held in two phases in Rajasthan. In the first phase, voting will be held in 12 Lok Sabha constituencies on April 19 and in the second phase, voting will be held in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies on April 26. Election results will come on June 4. On this day the situation will become clear as to which party will form the government.
