Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has announced candidates for 11 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. The party has also declared its candidate from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. Mayawati has played a big gamble by fielding Muslim candidate Athar Jamal Lari from Varanasi. Lari will challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The contest has become interesting for BSP by fielding a Muslim candidate from Varanasi. Athar Jamal Lari has already contested three assembly and two Lok Sabha elections. He was associated with Mukhtar Ansari's party Qaumi Ekta Dal for a long time. Later Lari joined Samajwadi Party and then moved to BSP.

How much is Lari worth?

According to the Mainit website, the total wealth of Athar Jameel Lari is more than Rs 1 crore 28 lakh. He has Rs 43 thousand in cash, while Rs 1 lakh 8 thousand is deposited in the bank. He also has two cars worth about Rs 14 lakh.

Agricultural land worth 25 lakhs.

According to the information, he owns a Tata Safari and a Qualis car. Apart from this, the BSP candidate has jewellery worth about Rs 3 lakh 5 thousand, as mentioned on the website. Lari also owns agricultural land worth Rs 25 lakh and a rented building worth Rs 75 lakh.

When will voting take place in Varanasi?

Under the NDA alliance, the Bharatiya Janata Party had already announced the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. Meanwhile, under the Bharat alliance, Congress has fielded Ajay Rai from here. Voting will be held on June 1 in the seventh phase on Varanasi seat, considered one of the hottest seats in UP.
