Last posted in Garhwa, then on leave for three years… Who was JPSC topper Shalini Vijay, whose body was found in Kerala

The body of Shalini Vijay, the topper of the first batch of Jharkhand Public Service Commission, was found in suspicious circumstances in Kerala. The bodies of her brother and mother were also lying with her. After this incident, there has been a sensation in both Kerala and Jharkhand. Whether this is suicide or murder, it has not been confirmed yet. The police are investigating the matter closely. The bodies of Shalini Vijay, her brother, and her mother were found in a closed room in the residence located in Central Excise Quarters in Kochi.
Shalini's brother Manish Vijay was an IRS officer. He was posted as a customs officer in Kerala. While her mother Shakuntala Vijay has been a professor in a college in Bokaro. Shalini Vijay, the first Jharkhand Public Service Commission topper, was on leave for the last three years. Shalini Vijay was last posted as the District Social Welfare Officer in the Garhwa district of Jharkhand and was on leave for more than 3 years.
The matter came to light when Manish Vijay, Assistant Commissioner of CGST in Kochi, Kerala, took leave about a week ago. He had taken leave saying that he had to go to Jharkhand. But he did not come to Jharkhand. When he did not return to duty even three days after the leave ended, two of his colleagues Guruwal reached his residence late in the evening to inquire about his well-being.
Suspicion arose when a foul smell came from inside the house
Both the colleagues got suspicious after a foul smell emanated from the Central Excise Quarters in Kochi where Manish Ranjan used to live. They immediately informed the police about it. When the door of the house was broken in the presence of the police, the bodies of mother Shakuntala Agarwal (80 years old), sister Shalini Vijay (about 50 years old) and brother Manish Vijay Agarwal were found in suspicious circumstances in different rooms of the house.
Mother Shakuntala's body was found lying on the bed. While the bodies of brother Manish and sister Shalini were found hanging from the noose. Kerala Police seized mobile phones, diaries and many other items from their residence. The FSL team started collecting evidence present at the residence. Along with this, the bodies of the deceased were sent to Ernakulam Medical College for postmortem.
Shalini was on leave since 2021
Earlier JPSC topper Shalini Vijay was last posted as District Social Welfare Officer in Garhwa district of Jharkhand. She was on leave since the year 2021. She had gone to Kerala after taking leave for about 3 years and was living there with her brother. It is feared that due to some domestic dispute and problems, all three people might have taken such a big step as suicide.
Shalini was separated from her husband in 2019
Shalini Vijay's entire family is well educated. Shalini Vijay's grandfather Nemi Chand was also working at a high post in BPSC Patna. While Shalini Vijay's father Uttam Chand was working in Bokaro Steel, although he has already passed away. Shalini Vijay was married to a professor working as a lecturer in Sambalpur, although both of them separated in the year 2019.
Shalini's name was in the CBI investigation
CBI is investigating the irregularities in the appointment in the first Jharkhand Public Service Commission examination. Shalini was the topper of the first Jharkhand Public Service Commission. CBI is investigating the successful candidates of that first batch, in which notices were sent to many people. Shalini Vijay's name was also included in this.
