Karnataka's Gubbi police have claimed to have busted a racket that used to dupe people in the name of marriage. A woman involved in the gang married not one or two but five men and duped them. The police were constantly receiving complaints about this. Now the gang members have been caught by the police. The police have succeeded in arresting the bride along with her two companions and a marriage broker. Along with Karnataka, this gang had also made people its victims in Maharashtra.

Several members of this gang who cheated people through marriage have been arrested. According to a Times Now report, agricultural expert Palakshayya had complained to the Gubbi police in November 2023, accusing Komal and others of cheating in the name of marriage. The police have been after this gang since then.

Palakshaya's sons Dayanand and Komal got married in October 2023. Palakshaya's friend Basavaraju introduced him to a woman named Lakshmi and told her to be a marriage agent. After the marriage was fixed, Komal also went to Palakshaya's house with her friends. Siddappa and Lakshmi Shambhulinga were also present on that occasion. Both of them introduced themselves as Komal's maternal uncle and aunt.

Palakshayya had also given Lakshmi Rs 2.5 lakh as brokerage fee. He had also given money to the bride to buy a saree and jewelry. Apart from this, Palakshayya had also given Mangalsutra and ear-rings from his side. Three days after the marriage, Komal had gone to Hubli saying that it was necessary to go to the mother's house after marriage. After this, her mobile phone was switched off and her whereabouts were not known.

Palakshayya said that he also went to Hubli and visited Siddappa's house. The matter came to light there. Police said that it has come to light that this gang has done 4 more marriages. Police officials said that Komal had married another man from Miraj in Maharashtra a few days ago. Other members of the gang are being searched for.
