Jharkhand Excise Constable Recruitment: Have to run 10 km in 60 minutes,
Jharkhand News: Another youth died in the constable recruitment race in Jharkhand, 12 deaths till now, questions on the silence of the government.
Recruitment of constables in the excise department in Jharkhand has become a 'race of death'. On Monday, another youth lost his life while running 10 km in one hour. The name of the deceased youth is Deepak Kumar Paswan (25 years). He was a resident of Vriddhkhera village of Pandu police station area of Palamu district. Deepak had participated in the race organized for recruitment in Chianki of Palamu on 28 August and during this, he fell unconscious. He died on Monday during treatment at Medanta Hospital in Ranchi. With this, the number of candidates who died during the constable recruitment race in the state has gone up to 12.
Recruitment is going on for 583 constable posts in the Excise Department in the state. More than five lakh youth of the state have applied for this. Graduates, post graduates, and youth with other higher degrees are also participating in this, while the minimum qualification for this is a 10th pass.
As part of the physical test for recruitment, running competitions are being held in different districts from August 22. In this, the condition for male candidates is to complete a 10 km run in one hour and for women candidates a 5 km run in 40 minutes. During the last 11 days, more than 300 candidates have fainted while completing this difficult race. The government has not yet taken any stand on the incidents of continuous deaths and fainting of youngsters.
There have been protests in Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Deoghar and Giridih districts in the last three days over these incidents. Palamu has so far seen the highest number of deaths of five youths during the recruitment process. These include Amresh Kumar, a resident of Gaya in Bihar, Ajay Mahato, a resident of Ormanjhi in Ranchi, Arun Kumar, a resident of Chhatarpur in Palamu and Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Godda.
Two youths Suraj Verma and Mahesh Kumar have lost their lives so far in the ongoing race for recruitment in the police training centre located at Padma in Hazaribagh. One candidate each has also died in Giridih, East Singhbhum, Giridih, Ranchi and Sahibganj.
Jharkhand Police IG (Operations) Amol Homkar has said that the police has started investigation by registering a UD case regarding the deaths that have occurred so far. Medical teams are deployed at all the recovery centers. It has been revealed about some of the youths who have died that they had consumed medicines.
