A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Jharkhand's Khunti district. Here, five girls returning from a wedding ceremony were kidnapped by 12 youths. After this, three girls were gang-raped. Meanwhile, one girl somehow escaped from their clutches and came to the village and informed the people. When the villagers reached the spot, all the accused fled. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case in this matter and are engaged in an investigation.

The girls said that they were returning from a wedding ceremony when 12 youths surrounded them on the way from Ulihatu village to Nichitpur. The youths took them to a secluded place near the Karo River and gang-raped them there. This incident happened late Friday night.

A girl escaped from the clutches.

One of the five friends somehow managed to escape from the clutches of the culprits and ran away to her village. She told the villagers about the brutality. When the villagers reached the spot, the accused fled from there.

As soon as the information was received, a team was formed under the leadership of Torpa ASP Christopher Kerketta. The police registered an FIR based on the statements of the girls and detained the suspects. Continuous raids are being conducted in search of other accused.

In recent times, Jharkhand has witnessed a rise in crimes against women and girls. Some time ago, a similar incident was reported with a 15-year-old girl in Gumla district. This incident once again raises serious questions on the safety of daughters. Despite schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, the rise in crimes is a matter of concern.
