Jealousy Turns Deadly: 13-Year-Old Boy Kills 6-Year-Old Cousin in Mumbai

A shocking incident unfolded in Mumbai’s Nala Sopara, where a 13-year-old boy allegedly murdered his six-year-old cousin out of jealousy, reportedly influenced by the Bollywood film Raman Raghav. The boy, feeling neglected by his family in favor of the young girl, lured her to a secluded hilltop before committing the crime.
Following the tragic event on March 1, authorities took the boy into custody and sent him to a juvenile home. The victim’s body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.
Investigation and Confession
According to the police, both families lived together in the same household. When the young girl went missing after playing outside, her family began searching for her. CCTV footage later revealed that the boy had taken her towards the hill but returned alone.
Initially, the boy told investigators that two unidentified men attacked them on the hill and that he barely escaped. However, his statements were inconsistent. Under further questioning, he eventually confessed to strangling the girl before fatally striking her with a stone. He later led authorities to the site where her body was found.
This tragic case highlights the deep emotional turmoil experienced by children and raises concerns about the influence of violent content on young minds.
