IPS officer misbehaves with a resident doctor, video goes viral
A serious incident has come to light in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, in which a resident doctor was mistreated. The incident took place on Sunday night and it is alleged that the patient's husband misbehaved with the resident doctor. Surprisingly, the accused person is an IPS officer by profession. After this incident, anger and displeasure can be seen among the resident doctors of the hospital, and the CCTV video of this incident has gone viral on social media.
When and where did the incident happen?
This incident happened on 24 November, Sunday night. The surgery postgraduate resident doctor of the hospital, who was on duty, had to treat a patient in the New SIC building of the hospital. The patient's name was Anita Roy, who was admitted to the Sports Injury Center. Anita was accompanied by her husband Brijendra Kumar Yadav, who is an IPS officer. When the resident doctor asked Anita about her health, the patient did not give correct answers and her behaviour was also not good. After this, Anita's husband misbehaves with the doctor and insults her.
What was the reason for the anger?
It is not yet clear why Brijendra Yadav got angry. However, his mistreatment of the doctor angered the resident doctors of the hospital. The video of this incident was recorded in a CCTV camera and this video spread rapidly on the Internet.
The impact of the incident and the reaction of the doctors
After the incident, between 3 am and 6 am on Monday, the rest of the doctors of the hospital stopped working in the emergency ward. They did not perform their duty for almost 2 hours. Meanwhile, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) wrote a letter demanding action from the hospital administration. In this letter, it was said that IPS officer Brijendra Yadav should apologize for the misbehaviour with the resident doctor and steps should be taken to avoid such incidents in future.
Support of (FAIMA)
Resident Doctors Association of Safdarjung Hospital has got full support of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) in this case. FAIMA issued a letter saying that if we treat every patient with respect, then every patient and their family should treat their doctors in the same way. FAIMA strongly condemned the growing VIP culture in government hospitals and said that if it can happen in Delhi, it can happen anywhere.
Demand for resident doctors
The resident doctors made two main points with the hospital administration:
- IPS officer Brijendra Yadav should apologize for his misbehaviour with the resident doctor.
- The hospital administration should take responsibility for this incident and take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
This incident has raised a serious question about the relationship between doctors and patients in government hospitals. Resident doctors say they should be treated with respect while performing their professional duties, regardless of whether they are patients or their families. Everyone is waiting for further action on this matter and the response of the hospital administration.
