Infiltrator from Bangladesh, became village head in India, who is TMC leader Lovely Khatoon
Lovely Khatun Malda West Bengal: The head of a gram panchayat in Malda district of West Bengal has been accused of serious allegations. It is being said that she came to India from Bangladesh and became the head of the village by making fake documents here.
Who is Lovely Khatun: The controversy over the citizenship of Lovely Khatun, the head of the gram panchayat of Rashidabad, West Bengal, is deepening. Lovely Khatun, the head of the TMC-led Rashidabad gram panchayat in Malda district, is said to be a Bangladeshi immigrant. Not only this, she is accused of illegally entering India without a passport. In media reports, Lovely Khatun's real name is being told as Nasiya Sheikh. In such a situation, questions have become inevitable about participation in local elections and becoming panchayat heads. In this regard, the Calcutta High Court has also summoned a report from the SDO.
Joined TMC after winning election
Rehana Sultana, a resident of Chanchal, filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court in 2024. Rehana contested the gram panchayat elections in 2022 but lost to Lovely Khatun. "Rehana Sultana, who had filed the petition, had contested as a TMC candidate but lost to Lovely Khatoon, who contested as a candidate of the Congress and the Left alliance. Within a month or two of Khatun winning the election, she joined the TMC," he said.
Fake documents made while living in India
Media reports claim that Lovely Khatun's real name is Nasiya Sheikh and she is an alleged Bangladeshi immigrant who entered India illegally without a passport. He further alleged that an Aadhaar card was issued in the name of Khatoon in 2015 and a birth certificate in 2018, but all these documents were made on the basis of fake documents. The petitioner claims that there is evidence to prove that Khatoon changed her identity, including changing her name and official records.
'Someone in a neighbouring village made a father'
"We had gone to the local police station and the local administration but no action was taken, so we moved the Calcutta High Court in 2024," said Rehana's lawyer Bhaduri, adding that Lovely Khatoon had falsified documents such as her Aadhaar card, voter card and even OBC status to prove her eligibility for the election. We also came to know from locals that Khatoon had gone to a neighbouring village and asked a person to reveal her father's name. Everyone knows his father's name is Jameel Biswas and not Sheikh Mustafa, even in the National Population Register (NRC), there is no mention of Lovely in Sheikh Mustafa's family."
This comes at a time when seven people have been arrested for allegedly making passports with forged documents for Bangladeshi nationals, who had entered the country illegally.
