Twelve policemen have committed suicide in Jharkhand this year. The number rose to 12 after the suicide of a constable from Lohardaga, raising concerns about whether domestic, social or departmental tensions are behind it.

For them, losing a soldier is a very big deal. On Friday, news came of a soldier from Lohardaga committing suicide. With this suicide, the number of policemen committing suicide in the state this year has gone up to 12. That is, Jharkhand has lost 12 of its brave soldiers in 12 months. Still, the question is of suicide, but why, what kind of stress were these soldiers going through? Domestic, social or departmental stress.
- On December 20, 32-year-old Ramu Mahato committed suicide by hanging himself in Kolsimri village of Kurdu police station area of Lohardaga district. Ramu Mahato was posted in Simdega Police Line.
- He came home on leave on December 13. Initial investigation by the police has revealed that the jawan committed suicide due to family discord.
- On December 9, Havaldar Nandkishore Singh posted at the CRPF camp in the Tundi police station area of Dhanbad district died after being shot by his rifle. It is suspected that he committed suicide.
- On November 26, Indo-Tibetan Border Police jawan Sandeep Kumar Singh shot himself in Baliapur, Dhanbad. Sandeep was a resident of Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand and was on duty during the elections in Jharkhand.
- On November 5, SSB jawan Anappa Duggal, who had come to do assembly election duty at the camp located at the Government Upgraded High School in the Bhandra police station area of Lohardaga, committed suicide by shooting himself with his INSAS rifle.
- On October 2, a soldier named Rahul Kumar shot himself with his duty rifle in the CRPF camp in Sambo village under the Nagari police station area of Ranchi.
- On October 2 itself, the body of NDRF jawan Jai Lakra was found hanging from a tree in Pokhar Toli of Airport Police Station in Ranchi.
- On October 1, an assistant sub-inspector of Jharkhand Police also committed suicide by shooting himself in Karaikela in Chaibasa district.
- On July 25, a soldier named Ashish Kumar committed suicide in the CRPF 22nd Battalion camp located at Sheela OP in the Simaria police station area of Chatra district.
- In July itself, Pramod Singh, a soldier posted at the Karamdih picket under the Chhipadohar police station area of Latehar district, died after being shot by his weapon.
- On June 18, CISF jawan Sanjeet committed suicide after strangulating his wife to death in Sector 8 of the Harla police station area of Bokaro.
- On May 31, Vikas Kumar, a 31-year-old district police constable posted at the Hazaribagh DIG residence, shot himself while on duty.
- On 6 February, a jawan named Kailash Chand Mehra committed suicide by hanging himself in the CRPF 190 battalion camp in Chatra. He was a resident of Lohari village in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh
