Indore: A shocking case of the evil practice of checking virginity on the first night of marriage and dowry harassment has come to light in the Banganga area of ​​the district. On the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against the in-laws in Banganga police station under dowry harassment and other sections.

The victim was married to a young man from Bhopal in December 2019. On the first night of marriage, her in-laws checked her virginity. This incident tortured the victim mentally and physically. Advocate KK Kunhare said that this practice is prevalent in some communities, but it is very shameful to adopt it in the 21st century.

Also accused of dowry harassment

The victim alleges that she was also tortured for dowry. During pregnancy, she also faced problems like miscarriage in three months and later giving birth to a dead baby girl. Currently, the victim is the mother of a girl child. The investigation report of the Women and Child Development Department has confirmed that the in-laws used inhuman methods to check virginity in an improper manner on the wedding night, due to which the victim suffered mental and physical torture.

The family will knock at the door of the court

Considering the seriousness of the case, the court has ordered action against the in-laws. K.K. Kunhare said, "Such practices are against the rights of women in society. This case proves that even now women are raising their voice against such evils."
