IMD Issues Rainfall Alert: Heavy Showers Expected in These States for Five Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rainfall across multiple states over the next five days due to an incoming Western Disturbance. As per the latest updates, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh will witness showers from March 9 to 13. Uttarakhand is expected to receive rainfall between March 10 and 13, while Punjab is likely to experience precipitation on March 12 and 13.

Weather Changes in North India

After experiencing strong winds for the past two days, North India is now set for a shift in weather patterns. The IMD predicts significant rainfall in the hilly regions due to the arrival of a new Western Disturbance on March 9.

In the last 24 hours, light rain was recorded in Arunachal Pradesh, while Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Mahe also experienced showers.

Rain and Storm Warnings Issued

According to IMD reports, an alert has been issued for stormy weather and rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, and Sikkim on March 7 and 8, while Nagaland is expected to be affected on March 7.

Weather Update for Southern India

The southern states are also expected to receive heavy rainfall. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Kerala are likely to witness intense showers on March 10 and 11, while South Interior Karnataka may experience rainfall on March 11.

Temperature Trends Across India

Meanwhile, temperature fluctuations are anticipated across various regions. Northwest and Central India may see a rise of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next three to four days. Eastern and Western India are expected to witness an increase of up to 5 degrees over the next five days.

Hot and humid weather conditions are predicted in Konkan, Goa, and Coastal Karnataka on March 7 and 8, Gujarat from March 9 to 11, Kerala and Mahe from March 7 to 9, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on March 8.
