The Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets of Abhay Singh aka 'IIT Baba', who rose to fame at the Maha Kumbh in UP's Prayagraj, have gone viral on social media platforms, showcasing Singh's academic brilliance to the world. Documents shared on various social media sites show that Abhay Singh, an IIT Bombay alumnus with a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, had scored 93 per cent marks in his Class 10 and 92.4 per cent marks in his Class 12 exams.

Who is 'IIT Baba' Abhay Singh?

A native of Sasroli village in Jhajjar, Haryana, Abhay Singh is an aerospace engineer from IIT Bombay who worked for a tech firm in Canada before dedicating his life to seeking spiritual knowledge by living as a monk.

After passing his Class 12 exams with flying colours, Abhay Singh cracked one of the toughest recruitment exams in the country, JEE Advanced, in which he secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 731 in 2008. Abhay later joined IIT Bombay, where he received a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Arrest and controversy

On March 3, Jaipur police detained Abhay Singh after he allegedly threatened to commit suicide on social media. Acting swiftly, officers from the Shipra Path police station traced his hideout to a hotel in Jaipur's Riddhi-Siddhi area. During the search, officers reportedly recovered ganja and other narcotics. Initially, there was speculation of action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, but Abhay was later released on bail.
