A woman in West Bengal's Howrah district allegedly sold her husband's kidney for Rs 10 lakh. After this, she fled with her lover with all the money.

Police said that the woman asked her husband to raise money for her daughter's education and forced him to sell his kidney for Rs 10 lakh. Police have started an investigation on the complaint of her husband, a resident of Sankrail.

The husband said in his complaint that for the past year, his wife had been pressuring him to sell his kidney and bring money. She said that with this money she would run the house well and get her 12-year-old daughter admitted to a good school.

He then agreed to sell the kidney and signed a contract with a buyer. After the surgery last month, the husband brought the money home. His wife asked him to rest and not go out to recover quickly.

The woman was found with another man in BarrackporeAfter this, the family started searching for her with the help of friends and acquaintances. The woman was found in a house in Barrackpore, a northern suburb of Kolkata, away from Howrah. The man with whom she had allegedly eloped was also living in this house.

The woman said that she met her boyfriend on Facebook. The two were reportedly in a relationship for the past year.

Her lover told them that she would divorce her in-laws, accusing them of physically and mentally torturing her for 16 years after their marriage.

The victim's husband denied that his wife had taken any cash from her in-laws' house in Sankrail. The police said that they would first watch the video of the conversation between the woman's lover and the husband's family. The woman and her lover will be questioned before taking any action.
