In the second phase of the Central Vista Project, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the new Parliament House in New Delhi on May 28. The inauguration of the new state-of-the-art Parliament House will also be nine years old. 

The new Parliament building will be the main attraction of the Central Vista project, which aims to renovate the Central Administrative Region of India, located in Raisina Hill, New Delhi. The cost of the entire project is thousands of crores and the construction is top-notch.

Keeping in view the future expansion of the new Parliament House, the seating capacity has been increased to accommodate more MPs. It is located near the present Parliament House on Rajpath and has a list of new and improved facilities.

Cost of the new parliament building

The new Parliament building comes under the Central Vista redevelopment project and is currently undergoing finalization. PM Modi is expected to inaugurate it later this month, most likely on May 28.

According to the official details of the Central Vista project, the construction of the new Parliament building has cost a whopping Rs 862 crore. The construction cost of the entire Central Vista project is over Rs 13,000 crore.

The New Parliament Building is given a triangular shape and has been constructed for a life span of over 150 years. The new building has 888 seats in the Lok Sabha chamber and 384 seats in the Rajya Sabha chamber, and will not have a central hall, unlike the old parliament.

The building will be earthquake resistant and its architectural style has been taken from different parts of India. Other renovations in the Central Vista project are the redevelopment of Kartvayapath and new residences for the Prime Minister and the Vice President.
