Haryana Vidhan Sabha Election: Will small parties make a big splash? BSP-INLD alliance and JJP waiting for rebels

The Haryana assembly election is believed to be a contest between Congress and BJP. But INLD and JJP are trying to become kingmakers by joining hands with Dalit-based parties. INLD has allied with Mayawati's BSP. JJP has entered the electoral fray in alliance with Chandrashekhar Azad's Azad Samaj Party (ASP). Are BSP-INLD and JJP-ASP delaying the announcement of their candidates because of the political rebellion that has erupted after the announcement of Congress and BJP candidates?

INLD and BSP are contesting the elections together. Under seat sharing, INLD is contesting on 53 seats while BSP is trying its luck on 37 seats. Similarly, in the seat sharing between JJP and Azad Samaj Party, JJP plans to contest on 70 seats and BSP on 20 seats. Both the parties have not yet announced the names of all their candidates. Whereas only two days are left for nomination. In such a situation, the question arises whether these parties are not getting candidates or are they waiting for rebel leaders of BJP and Congress?

JJP-ASP has so far announced the names of candidates for only 31 out of 90 seats in Haryana. JJP-ASP has released only two lists of candidates. In this, names have been announced for 19 seats in the first list and 12 seats in the second. Out of the 19 candidates in the first list, 15 were from JJP and 4 from ASPA. After this, in the second list of 12 candidates released on Monday, there are 10 JJP and 2 from ASPA. Similarly, INLD and BSP have so far announced the names of candidates for only 14 seats.

In Haryana, the INLD-BSP alliance is yet to announce the names of candidates for 76 seats, while the JJP-ASP alliance is yet to announce the names of candidates for 59 seats. In this way, for both the alliances, the assembly elections are about saving their political existence. In such a situation, not only JJP, INLD, but BSP is also announcing the names of its candidates very thoughtfully. All three parties are eyeing a winning candidate. For this, they are also waiting for the leaders who rebelled against BJP and Congress.

After not getting the assembly ticket from BJP, Aditya Chautala has said goodbye to the party. He has joined INLD. INLD chief Abhay Chautala has made Aditya a candidate from Dabwali assembly seat as soon as he joined the party. Similarly, Aam Aadmi Party has made many rebel leaders of Congress and BJP as its candidates. In such a situation, it is clear that not only the INLD-BSP alliance but also JJP-ASP and Aam Aadmi Party have their eyes on the turncoat leaders.

In the Haryana assembly elections, the Congress has the highest demand for tickets. Therefore, the party is proceeding cautiously. The party has so far declared candidates for only 41 seats. Out of these, 28 are sitting MLAs. The fear of rebellion is visible behind giving tickets to sitting MLAs. INLD, JJP, Aam Aadmi Party, and BSP are keeping an eye on the rebellion of Congress and BJP leaders. If we say so, these parties are considering the rebellion in Congress and BJP as a lifeline for themselves. For this, INLD, BSP, and JJP have also started contacting the rebel leaders.

Small parties are looking for such candidates.

INLD has only one sitting MLA in Haryana, Abhay Singh Chautala. JJP had ten MLAs in the 2019 elections. If INLD-BSP and JJP get rebel leaders, then their position can be strengthened in many seats. In such a situation, these three parties will wait for the rebel candidates to come till the last date of filing nominations. Smaller parties are looking for such candidates who have been former ministers or MLAs in the state. In such a situation, these parties are not releasing the list of candidates together for 90 seats. BSP is also looking for a strong candidate, for which it is eyeing the rebel leaders of other parties.
