Gujarat latest news: An unexpected incident is coming to light from Vadodara, Gujarat. The people of the society are protesting against the flat given to a woman under the CM scheme because she is a Muslim. According to a report by the Indian Express, the 44-year-old Muslim woman is working in a branch of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development. The woman was allotted a house in 2017 by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) in a society in Harni under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme.

The woman was overjoyed at the prospect of moving into an inclusive society with her then-minor son. But before she could move in, 33 residents of the society sent a written complaint to the district collector and other officials, objecting to a 'Muslim' living there, citing 'danger and nuisance'. Officials say she is the only Muslim allotted a house in the society.

The 44-year-old woman says that the protest started in 2020 when the people of the society wrote a letter to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) demanding the cancellation of the allotted housing. The Harni police station then settled the matter by recording the statements of all the parties concerned. But on June 10, there was a protest once again on the same issue.

My dreams were shattered: Woman

The woman says, "I grew up in a mixed neighborhood in Vadodara and my family never believed in the concept of a ghetto. I always wanted my son to grow up in an inclusive neighborhood. But my dreams have been shattered as it has been six years since I moved to this society and it continues. There is no solution to the resistance I am facing. My son has now moved to Class 12 and is grown up enough to understand what is happening to us. This kind of discrimination will weaken him mentally."
