Gold Smuggling: Air hostess was smuggling 1 kg gold hidden in her private parts, arrested at the airport!

Air hostess arrested: An air hostess has been arrested at Kannur airport on Thursday on charges of gold smuggling. The air hostess has been identified as Surabhi Khatun, a resident of Kolkata. Surabhi arrived at Kannur International Airport from Muscat on May 28.

According to the report, the air hostess was searched based on the information of a source from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). During the search, 960 grams of gold was seized from the air hostess. Air hostess Surabhi was carrying gold hidden in her private part rectum. 

Sent on 14-day remand

Sources say that this is the first case in India when an air hostess of an airline has been arrested on charges of smuggling gold hidden in her private parts. After interrogating the accused air hostess and completing the necessary formalities, she was produced before the magistrate. The magistrate has sent the accused to Kannur women's prison for 14 days.

The source also said that a detailed investigation has begun and the findings so far suggest that he had smuggled gold several times before. The source said that the involvement of people from Kerala in the smuggling gang is also being investigated. There has been no response from the airline company on this matter so far.

Shashi Tharoor's PA has also been arrested on charges of gold smuggling

On Wednesday, the Customs Department arrested two people on charges of smuggling gold at Delhi Airport. A 500-gram gold chain worth Rs 35.22 lakh was recovered from the person. One of the two arrested people has claimed to be the PA (personal assistant) of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. 

Clarifying this entire matter, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has said I am shocked to hear about the incident involving a former member of my staff. I do not support any wrongdoing. I will try to fully assist the authorities in further necessary action to investigate this matter. The law should do its work.
