'Girls are happier marrying Muslims... I also married a Muslim': UP education officer Babita Singh accused of promoting love jihad, also caught in extortion

Serious allegations like love jihad, corruption and extortion have been leveled against Babita Singh, a female block education officer (ABSA) posted in Swar block of Rampur district of Moradabad commissionerate. Babita Singh was earlier accused of motivating Hindu women to marry in the Muslim community. Now a case of taking a bribe against her has also come to light. DM, Divisional Commissioner and BSA ordered an inquiry in this case.
According to reports, three months ago Babita Singh was accused of instigating Hindu female teachers to marry Muslim men. The teachers say that ABSA Babita Singh lures them into marriage by telling them that Islam is a religion with more freedom and a better lifestyle. In one complaint it was alleged that Babita Singh said, "Girls are happier after marrying Muslim men. I have also married a Muslim man."
The female teachers said in the complaint that Babita Singh is not only promoting love jihad by misusing her position but is also spreading casteism andommunalism. They say that ABSA also misleads the children. The administration had sought an answer from Babita Singh in this matter.

Meanwhile, an audio went viral on social media, in which a clerk from ABSA's office was heard asking for a bribe. In the audio, there was talk of calling teacher Sajid Ali to the BRC office and asking for 10 thousand rupees. At the same time, in another audio, there is a mention of taking money from teacher Razia as well. In this case, the District Basic Education Officer directed all the concerned parties to appear in the district office on 8 January 2025 and present their side.
Explanation sought from the accused.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Singh ordered Divisional Assistant Education Director (Basic) Buddhpriya Singh to investigate. Under this, Rampur BSA Raghavendra Singh has sought clarification from Babita Singh. In this, she has been asked to submit a reply within a week to confirm and resolve the complaint.

It is being told that the allegations of bribery and love jihad are being looked into by different investigation teams. Further action is being said to be taken based on the statement of Bakbita Singh and the forensic investigation of the viral audio.
However, Babita Singh has called all the allegations against her baseless. She says that some teachers are making false allegations against her because she takes action against indiscipline in schools.
