UP News: Recently, Uttar Pradesh's notorious gangster Anurag Dubey alias Dabban recorded his statement at Maudarwaja police station in Farrukhabad. This incident has once again raised questions about the working style of UP Police. It is worth noting that the Supreme Court had recently reprimanded the UP Police in the Anurag Dubey case and also banned his arrest. After this, Anurag Dubey recorded his statement at the police station.
Anurag Dubey did a Facebook live before reaching the police station, in which he informed his acquaintances that he had reached Maudarwaja police station and is going to record his statement. In this live video, a person was present with him, who was showing the entire incident on social media from his mobile phone. Anurag had already expressed the fear that the police may encounter him, which is why he made a live video so that if something wrong happens to him, people can see it.
As per the order of the Supreme Court, Anurag Dubey appeared at the police station on December 1 and was questioned by the police for about an hour. During this time, tight security arrangements were made at the police station. Even drone cameras were being used to monitor so that any untoward incident could be avoided. The Supreme Court had criticized the UP Police while hearing Anurag's anticipatory bail plea. The court reprimanded the police and said that if anything happened to Anurag, a strict order would be passed, which the UP Police would remember for a lifetime. The court also said that the police need to work sensitively and not just use their power.
There are about 25 cases registered against Anurag Dubey in the Fatehgarh Kotwali area of Farrukhabad like fraud, assault, and forgery. In these cases, he has also been accused under the NSA (National Security Act) and Goonda Act. Anurag Dubey is related to BSP leader and mafia Anupam Dubey, who is serving life imprisonment in Mathura jail in the police inspector murder case. Despite the serious allegations against Anurag Dubey, he got relief from the Supreme Court, after which he appeared before the police and recorded his statement.
After coming out of the police station, Anurag while talking to the media said that he had recorded his statement only after getting justice from the Supreme Court. He thanked the Supreme Court and said that he has 200 percent faith in the court and he will fully cooperate in the police investigation.
This case shows the complicated balance between police and law and order, where on one hand there is a need to work within the ambit of law, while on the other hand, the police are also warned not to misuse their powers. This statement of Anurag Dubey and the strictness of the Supreme Court has emerged as an important example, where questions are raised about the working style of the police and the judiciary tries to control it.
