G-20 Summit 2023: G-20 will now be called G-21, African Union gets permanent membership

The dream that India had been dreaming of for years has been fulfilled today. Yes, the G20 summit has started in Delhi which will continue till 10th September. The summit started with PM Modi's speech. Let us tell you that the African Union has got permanent membership in this summit.

According to media reports, Azali Assoumani, Chairman of the Union of Comoros and Chairman of the African Union, took his place after becoming a permanent member of the G20. After the inclusion of the African Union, the G20 will henceforth be called G21. If reports are to be believed, the African Union has got permanent membership. 

According to media reports, as soon as the summit started, PM Modi said, we had proposed that the African Union be given permanent membership of G20. I am sure you all agree with this. Before starting further action with the consent of all of you, I invite the African Union as a member. After which Azali Assoumani, Chairman of the African Union, took his seat. Now G20 has become G21.
