A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where an electric blower used to ward off cold killed a family. Five members of a family living in a rented house in Sheikh Mohalla, Panderethan area were found dead due to suffocation. This heartbreaking incident has sent a wave of grief across the region.
The incident came to light when the neighbours did not see any activity of the family in the morning raised suspicions and informed the police. When the police entered the house after breaking the door, the husband and wife and their three innocent children were found unconscious. All were rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared them brought dead.
Administration's response to the tragedy
The dead have been identified as 38-year-old Ajaz Ahmed Bhat, his 32-year-old wife Salima, and their three children—three-year-old Arib, 18-month-old Hamza, and a one-month-old newborn. State Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief over the incident. He appealed to use heating devices carefully to avoid cold.
Neighbors Alerted Police
According to police sources, a phone call was received from the neighbours in the control room, which informed that the family had not come out since morning. The police reached the spot and broke the door and found that the electric blower was running in the room. It is suspected that the death was due to suffocation. The police have registered a case and started the investigation.
Appeal for caution
This incident highlights the need for safe use of heating appliances during winter. The administration has appealed to the people to ensure adequate ventilation to avoid such incidents.
