Fact Check: Muslim youths beat up a Hindu woman constable in Moradabad? Know the truth of this claim
A misleading claim went viral on social media about an attack on a woman constable in Moradabad. It was alleged that the attackers were Muslims and the woman was Hindu, while investigation revealed that the victim woman constable also belonged to the Muslim community. Police have registered a case against four named accused and several unidentified persons.
New Delhi: It is often said that what is seen with the eyes and heard with the ears is not always true. Therefore, before believing anything, one should verify all its aspects. These days, one such news is going viral on social media, which is being shared with a lie. The incident is from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, where a woman constable was beaten up.
This incident is on 30 November 2024. A female constable was going out of her house for some work in the Civil Lines police station of Moradabad district when a young man stopped his bike and beat her up. Later some more youths came there and they also helped the attacker in beating the female constable.
The video of this incident went viral on social media very fast. Some handles posted the video on Twitter and wrote that the accused are from the Muslim religion, while the female constable is Hindu. In the post, Moradabad police were demanded to take strict action against the accused. However, an investigation by the Sajag team found that the incident was being misleadingly posted on social media.
What is the claim about the female constable in the post?
First of all, look at the posts going on social media, in which this incident is being given a communal colour. A user named Deepak Sharma posted the video of the incident and wrote, 'You are a child of a Hindu.. you will be beaten. Let's see who will come to save you today.' After saying this, Irfan and Salim pulled the Hindu girl from the OBC community, threw her down, and kicked her in the stomach.
Deepak Sharma further wrote in his post, 'But Akhilesh Yadav will neither open his mouth for this girl nor demand justice, because the criminals belong to his beloved community. With the support of leaders like Akhilesh, "Muslim terrorists" have spread terror in the entire country. UP police should encounter them, Akhilesh ji you prepare 5 lakhs.' See the tweet-

This video has also been posted by an ex-handle named Jitendra Pratap Singh. He has written in his post, 'A woman constable of Uttar Pradesh Police was walking on the road in Moradabad. Then a Muslim man named Irfan stops her on the pretext of asking something and when he comes to know that this is a Hindu constable, he attacks her lethally. What is the truth of this claim?
To know the truth of this viral claim on social media, Sajag team contacted SHO Manish Saxena of Civil Lines police station in Moradabad. Giving information about the incident, he said that the claim of the woman constable being a Hindu, which is going viral on social media, is false. Manish Saxena said that the victim woman constable is also from the Muslim religion.
The SHO of Civil Lines police station also shared a copy of the FIR registered in the case with the Sajag team. According to the copy, the FIR was registered in the case on 30 November 2024 at 9:45 pm. There are four named accused in the incident - Irfan, Salim, Naeem and Naeem's sister. At the same time, a case has also been registered against 5 to 6 unknown people.
The accused have been booked under Sections 191(2), 115(2), 352 and 76 of the Indian Penal Code. According to the FIR, the name of the victim woman constable is Amreen and her father's name is Iqbal. In her complaint, Amreen said that on November 30, at around 3 pm, she was going to her landlord's house for some work. Then, on the way, 5-6 unknown boys, including Irfan and Salim, came shouting at her and asked her to start her motorcycle. When Amreen refused, one of them slapped her in the face.
When Amreen asked the reason, these people started beating her and dragged her towards the drain. Meanwhile, some of their friends also came there. All of them started beating Amreen and put her face in the drain. When some people told them that Amreen was in UP Police, all these people ran away from there. See the copy of the FIR-

In the case of the Moradabad incident, the claim on social media that the victim female constable is a Hindu is false. Civil Lines police station SHO Manish Saxena and the FIR registered in the case have confirmed the fact that the victim female constable is also from the Muslim religion. In the investigation of the Sajag team, the claim going viral on social media turned out to be misleading.
