"If I had my way I would have strangled him"

Terrorist Masood Azhar was released in exchange for passengers

IC 814 Hijacking: 'I felt very bad that we had released a terrorist. At that time the security of the country was compromised. When he was released, those were the most unfortunate moments. We all know that after releasing terrorist Masood Azhar, he revived the terrorist organization and formed a terrorist organization named Jaish-e-Mohammed , which carried out many terrorist attacks in India. These include the attack on Parliament House and many suicide attacks.' This is the statement of the then DIG of Jammu and Kashmir (DIG SP Vaid) SP Vaid. SP Vaid had an exclusive conversation  with Crime Tak .

Officials took terrorist Masood Azhar from jail to airport

Talking about the IC 814 hijacking case, he said that when the deal was struck to release terrorist Masood Azhar in exchange for the lives of the passengers of the hijacked flight, he was given the responsibility of taking Masood Azhar from the jail to the airport. Let us tell you that Masood Azhar was in Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. On the orders of the government, he was taken out of the jail and taken to Jammu airport. After which he was taken to Kandahar and released. The then DIG SP Vaidya said - If I had my way, I would have strangled him and killed him. My blood was boiling at that time.

Terrorist's face covered with monkey cap

The incident is of 24 December 1999. Terrorist Masood Azhar was released on 31 December 1999, seven days after the plane hijack (IC 814 Hijacking Case). The then DIG SP Vaidya was given the responsibility to take the terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar out of Kot Bhalwal jail and leave him at Jammu Technical Airport.

Dr. SP Vaidya said- I was called to the police headquarters and ordered to go to Kot Bhalwal jail to release Maulana Masood Azhar. This was a government decision. I reached the jail and after that the concerned jail officer released the terrorist. I ordered the soldiers to cover his face with a monkey cap. Masood Azhar refused, but when I scolded him, he agreed. After covering the face of terrorist Masood Azhar, we took him to Technical Airport Jammu. There we handed him over to the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs. This was my duty. I was bound by it.

Many conspiracies were hatched to free Masood Azhar from jail

Let us tell you that before the IC-814 hijacking, many conspiracies were hatched to take Masood Azhar out of Kot Bhalwal jail. Once a squad of 7 terrorists had conspired to attack Kot Bhalwal jail, however the security forces killed the terrorists. Not only this, a tunnel was dug in the jail to escape Masood Azhar. But this conspiracy was also foiled.

There is a ruckus about the web series, the government asked- why were the names of the kidnappers changed?

The central government has lodged its objection regarding the IC-814 web series. The central government has told Netflix that facts cannot be presented in a wrong way. The government asked why the captions were not used repeatedly to reveal the real names of the hijackers? Why were the hijackers shown as strong and the officers as weak? Netflix said that it will take special care of issues related to national security in future. It is alleged that the terrorists have been given Hindu names in this web series. There is strong opposition to this on social media.
