Enemy countries will tremble, approval given to buy warships and aircraft, army's strength will increase
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh on Tuesday, 3 September approved 10 capital acquisition proposals amounting to Rs 1,44,716 crore to enhance defence preparedness. 99 percent of the total cost of this defense equipment is Indian designed, developed, and manufactured. Proposals for the modernization of the Indian Army's tank fleet and procurement of future-ready combat vehicles (FRCV) have been approved.
The FRCV will be a future main battle tank with superior mobility, all-terrain capability, multi-layered protection, accurate and lethal fire, and real-time situation information. The Defense Ministry gave this information on social media. Apart from this, the purchase of air defense fire control radar was agreed upon.
Agreement on the purchase of fire control radar
The fire control radar will detect and track aerial targets, as well as provide firing solutions. The proposal has also been approved for the Forward Repair Team (Tracked), which has suitable cross-country mobility to carry out in-situ repairs during mechanized operations. The equipment has been designed and developed by Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited and is authorized for both mechanized infantry battalions and armored regiments.
Strength will increase in the maritime sector
Along with this, three new proposals were also agreed upon to enhance the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). These include Dornier-228 aircraft which are next-generation fast patrol ships with high operational comfort in bad weather conditions. Their purchase will enhance the capability of the ICG to conduct surveillance, maritime patrolling, search, rescue, and disaster relief operations.
Tribute paid to late Rakesh Pal
At the end of the meeting, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the late Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Director General Rakesh Pal. Rakesh Pal was also a member of the DAC. He died of a heart attack in Chennai on August 18, 2024. Paying tribute, all the members of the DAC also observed a minute's silence.
