Today, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar responded to a question asked by Congress MP Manish Tiwari in Parliament. Along with this, he also took a dig at the Congress MP. He said that the disengagement process on the LAC between India and China has been completed. He said that under the agreement, Indian security forces would go to all patrolling points in Depsang till the eastern border.

Manish Tiwari had raised a question in Parliament based on the questions presented by an IPS officer in the 2023 Police Directors General and Inspectors General Conference. Tiwari had asked how the situation is now at the 26 patrol points where patrolling was not easy. Along with this, he had questioned the current status of the disengagement process.

In response to Tiwari's question, Jaishankar said that if someone has asked questions through a paper, someone will have to answer them too. But I cannot answer them. I can answer the government.

The disengagement agreement has been completed- Jaishankar.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that I can answer on behalf of the government. I have given a very detailed statement on the withdrawal of troops and recent developments in the India-China border areas. In that statement, I highlighted that the final agreement has been reached for the withdrawal of troops, which relates to Depsang and Demchok.

He further said that I would also like to tell the honorable member that it was also stated in the statement that the Indian security forces will go to all the patrolling points in Depsang and will also go towards the east, which has historically been the limit of our patrolling in that area.

Tension was seen many times

In October this year, India and China reached an agreement on patrolling arrangements on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the India-China border areas. The border standoff between India and China started in 2020 in eastern Ladakh along the LAC, along with this, tensions were also seen between the soldiers on the China border many times. Due to this, the relations between the two countries were also affected. There was tension between the two countries for a long time. Now the situation on the border is normal.

Disengagement agreement reached after several meetings

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, while recounting the efforts of the government, said that commander level talks were held. I spoke to the Chinese Foreign Minister. The Defense Minister also spoke to the Chinese Defense Minister. The defense ministers of both the countries met in the ASEAN conference. Respect for LAC is necessary from both sides. There were talks with China on disengagement. The Foreign Minister said that complete disengagement has been done in eastern Ladakh.
