There were some dhabas whose owners were Muslims but the names of the dhabas were named after Hindu gods and goddesses. These dhabas are located in divisions like Vadodara, Rajkot, Godhra, Mehsana, Bhuj, Bharuch, Ahmedabad, Nadiad and Palanpur.

In Gujarat, Muslim owners had taken Dhaba licenses using Hindu names. They had also signed contracts with Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) on the basis of these Hindu names. Government buses of Gujarat used to stop here. Passengers used to eat food here thinking that these were Hindu Dhabas. Now the government has taken action in this matter.

GSRTC has cancelled its contract with 27 such dhabas in the state. Government buses will no longer stop at these dhabas. Some of these dhabas were owned by Muslims but were named after Hindu gods and goddesses.

These dhabas are located in divisions like Vadodara, Rajkot, Godhra, Mehsana, Bhuj, Bharuch, Ahmedabad, Nadiad and Palanpur. Hotel Shivshakti located on Bhuj-Dhragandhra-Ahmedabad road is also in this list. This hotel was named after a Hindu deity and its license was also in the name of a Hindu but its owner and manager were Muslims.

The same thing was done by Hotel Tulsi situated on Surat-Ahmedabad Road. Apart from this, the permit of Hotel Maruti situated on Surat-Ahmedabad Road in Bharuch Division has also been cancelled. The permit of Hotel Vrindavan situated on Vadodara-Godhra-Modasa Road has also been cancelled.

Apart from this, the permits of Hotel Sarvodaya on Ahmedabad-Rajkot route, Hotel Shreeji on Ahmedabad-Balasinor-Godhra-Jhalod route, Hotel Sahayog, Hotel Galaxy, Hotel Ronak on Ahmedabad-Surat road, Hotel Sarvodaya on Ahmedabad-Dhragandha-Bhuj route, Hotel Satimata on Surat-Ahmedabad road have also been cancelled.

It is worth mentioning that GSRTC is the roadways service of Gujarat government. It has more than 8 thousand buses. Many of these buses run on long routes. These long route buses stop at dhabas at some places on the way so that passengers can take a break. These dhabas are decided by GSRTC and tenders are issued for this.

It is in these that Muslims created disturbances. Even before this, there has been a continuous demand on social media to investigate the hotels and dhabas being run by Muslim owners under Hindu names. Now GSRTC has taken action.
