Delhi Assembly Elections: Muslim voters took an oath, which party will they vote for in Delhi? Told

AAP's focus on women and free schemes may help the party gain support from the Muslim community as well. However, some Muslim voters may also lean towards the Congress, especially if the Congress runs its campaign well.
Muslim voters have started considering their electoral decision for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. Like different communities, Muslim voters are also aware of their role in the elections this time. This is important because there are a large number of Muslim voters in Delhi and their vote can affect the victory of any party. In this article, we will know on which issues Muslim voters will cast their vote this time and which party they will give priority to.
The danger of a triangular contest
Mohammad Salim, a Muslim voter in New Seelampur market, shares his thoughts on the elections and says, "When two people fight, the third one benefits." His statement was about the triangular contest in Delhi, where the rivalry between the BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress is increasing. Salim believes that dividing the Muslim vote can benefit the BJP, so Muslim voters will support either AAP or Congress this time to stop the BJP.
AAP will get support, but Congress will also be important
Chandrachur Singh, who is an assistant professor of political science at Hindu College, believes that the Muslim vote will go against the BJP this time. According to him, "It is not complicated that Muslim voters will not vote for the BJP. If the elections were held tomorrow, AAP would get more Muslim votes. However, a lot will also depend on the Congress campaign and candidates."
AAP's focus on women and free schemes may help the party gain support from the Muslim community as well. However, some Muslim voters may also lean towards the Congress, especially if the Congress runs its campaign well.
Importance of Muslim voters:
Out of 70 assembly seats in Delhi, Muslim voters play a decisive role in 6 seats. Among these, Seelampur (50%), Matia Mahal (48%), Okhla (43%), Mastafabad (36%), Ballimaran (38%) and Babarpur (35%) are the prominent seats, where Muslim voters are in large numbers. AAP had won all these seats in the 2020 assembly elections.
Apart from this, Muslim voters also play an important role in seats like Seemapur (25%), Gandhi Nagar (22%), Chandni Chowk (20%), Sadar Bazaar (20%) and Vikaspuri (20%).
AIMIM's influence
in Delhi Telangana based party, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is also in the fray, which can make a dent in the vote bank of AAP and Congress. Apart from this, many Muslim voters will decide their vote this time on the basis of the performance of Congress and AAP.
Regional issues and concerns of Muslims
Local issues are also important for Muslim voters. In many areas of Delhi, such as Shaheen Bagh, Jafrabad and Mustafabad, people are angry over the lack of basic facilities by the government. People are openly expressing their concerns over problems like cleanliness, water supply, sewer system and traffic.
Saira Bano, who was shopping in the new Seelampur market, said, "Congress is a good party, while Kejriwal has done good work for Delhi. I will be happy if any of them forms the government." However, she expressed dissatisfaction with the government over problems of dirty water, non-collection of garbage and sewer overflows.
