Corona: Alert issued to states regarding new variant B1.1529, instructions for strict investigation.
On Thursday, the Central Government has issued instructions to all the states and union territories regarding the new form of coronavirus, B1.1529. The Center has advised strict screening and testing of all Indian and international travelers arriving from South Africa, Hong Kong, and Botswana.
Cases of dangerous new forms of corona have been reported in all these countries. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to the Additional Chief Secretaries/Principal Secretaries/Secretary (Health) of all the States and Union Territories.
In the letter, he has been asked to ensure that the samples of passengers found positive in the covid test are immediately sent to the laboratories for genome sequencing. He said that cases of B1.1529 form of covid-19 have been registered by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in Botswana (3), South Africa (6), and Hong Kong (1).
This variant is reported to have a large number of mutations. In view of the recent easing of visa restrictions and the resumption of international travel, this could be serious for the country.
More than nine thousand infected found in the country for the second consecutive day
More than nine thousand people have been found corona infected for the second consecutive day in the country. During this 396 patients have died. The Union Health Ministry said on Thursday that due to the recovery of 10,264 patients in the last one day, the number of active cases has come down to 1,09,940.
The ministry said that on Wednesday, 9,119 people have been found infected with a corona in the country. With this, the total number of corona cases in India has gone up to 3,45,44,882. Of these, 3,39,67,962 people have been cured, while 4,66,980 people have died so far.
On Wednesday, in the investigation of 11.50 lakh samples, 0.79 percent of samples have been found infected. The weekly rate of infection is also 0.90 percent. The country has had the lowest active rate in the last 539 days. The recovery rate of infection still remains at 98.33 percent.
Total vaccination crosses 119 crore
The ministry said that on Wednesday, more than 90.27 lakh vaccinations have been done in the country. Now 132 crore doses have been sent to the states. Out of this, states have storage of more than 22.72 crore doses. The total vaccination in the country has crossed 119 crores. 42 crore people have finished vaccination by taking both doses. In the last day, 4,280 new cases have been reported in Kerala, while 35 people have died.
