Two teenage brothers were brutally attacked on suspicion of theft in Juhu, Mumbai. The accused chopped off half of their hair, held them hostage for hours and paraded them naked. The police have arrested one of the accused after the video of the incident went viral on social media.

Mumbai: Four men attacked two teenage brothers from Juhi in Mumbai on Monday in Mumbai's Juhu area on suspicion of theft. They chopped off half of their hair, held them hostage for hours and paraded them naked. The incident came to light after the 60-year-old grandmother of the victims saw a viral video on social media of her grandson being beaten up. They were tied up and tortured by three men, while another man captured the incident on camera.

Two minor brothers were tied up and their heads were shaved

Following the complaint, Juhu police arrested 22-year-old Suraj Patwa from Naidu Nagar slum, while a search for the other accused began. A Naidu Nagar official said that in the viral video, Patwa and his three companions are seen attacking the children. They tied the hands and legs of two minor brothers and shaved their heads for a few hours.

Later, they were paraded naked in Naidu Nagar before being allowed to go. They also threatened the children not to return to Naidu Nagar again. Both the children live next to Naidu Nagar and were caught while stealing by the group of accused.

The official said that the police will produce the children before the Juvenile Justice Board. According to police officials, this was not the first time but the children had been caught stealing several times earlier but were let off due to their young age. The incident took place on Monday when the children had gone to Naidu Nagar between 3 am and 9 am. That is when Patwa and three others caught them.

The woman complained to the police

Based on the grandmother's complaint, the police have registered a case against Patwa and others under various sections of the Indian Justice Code, Bombay Children's Act and Information Technology Act. In her complaint, the grandmother said, "I came to know about the incident at 7 pm when my nephew told me that residents of Naidu Nagar attacked my grandchildren thinking they were thieves."

He showed me a video on Facebook in which my grandchildren were tied up, beaten repeatedly, their heads were half shaved and they were paraded naked. He said his grandchildren are still struggling to recover from this shocking incident.
